The Ventura County Watershed Protection District's Groundwater Section reviews discretionary permit applications in order to verify and mitigate any potential groundwater quality or quantity issues. During the discretionary review process, the Groundwater Section determines a project's water supply source, indicates whether that supply is potable or non-potable quality, and determines the past water use and the proposed water use.
If your proposed project site is within a water-purveyor or water regulatory agency boundary, water providers must supply a Will-Serve letter to show that they have sufficient water available for the intended use. The Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency must confirm if a water well or property has sufficient annual water allocations to meet the proposed uses under its existing ordinances.
